DEATH NOTICE
ALBERT (BERT) KLINKHAMMER

| It is with sadness that the family
announces the passing of Albert (Bert) Klinkhammer at his home on
Saturday, March 31, 2007, in his 90th year. Born in Brantford,
moved to Cambridge in 1959. He pursued a long and successful
professional career, finally retiring from the position of Vice
President and Director of Harding Carpets in 1986. He continued to
work as a management consultant until 1990. He had wide community
interests and served as s Trustee on the Board of Education for Galt
from 1960 - 1966. During this period of time he also sat as a
Director of Galt Chamber of Commerce from 1961 - 1971. In 1970 he
was appointed as a founding Governor of Conestoga College by the
Minister of Education. He served the Board from 1968 to 1972
and was Chairman of the Board for a 3 year period.
He was the Founding President (1987 1988) and an ongoing member of the PROBUS CLUB OF CAMBRIDGE, the first to be established in Canada for retired professional and business men. There are now over 20,000 members in 170 clubs throughout Canada. In addition Bert was Director and Chairman of Probus Centre-Canada, Inc. from 1992 to 1997. Bert was a devoted member of St. Gregory's Church and was active in the establishment of this parish when it was formed in 1967. He served his Church in many capacities , as Chairman of the Lay Committee, Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and choir member. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 60 years, holding various official offices and was an active participant. He received a papal appointment to the Knights of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem in May 1990 and was appointed a Lay Affiliate of the Augustian Order in 1995 in appreciation for his service to the order and the Church. |
| Bert will be missed by all
Probians in Canada. He was a Pioneer of Probus Centre- Canada and
was one of the people who were instrumental in the original formation of
Probus Centre-Canada,
