As Rotary District Governor of 7090 in 1986 John arranged for a grant of $200 to begin promotion of PROBUS. He set up sponsorship of the PROBUS CLUB of Oakville in January 1988 and later arranged for several news items in the Rotary Zone 2 Journal which produced favourable results among Rotary Clubs.
John served on the Probus Centre Council as Secretary.
