The Probus Club of Hyderabad was installed on 4th Sep 1998

It was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hyderabad (North) and Co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Jubilee Hills. It was accredited in October 1998 to the Probus Centre South Pacific Inc., Paramatta (NSW), Australia, the then apex body.

Membership end 2007-08: 30 Gents and 27 Spouses. The Members meet on the last Sunday of every Month at Golkonda Hotel, Hyderabad (AP), INDIA. In the middle of a month a "Fellowship" get together is arranged apart from visits to Industry, Educational Institutions etc., for up to date information & awareness of the State of the Art.

PREAMBLE

A Probus Club is an Association of retired Professional and Business people, or other Members of the community, who have had some measure of responsibility in any field of worthy endeavor and who are of good character and respected by their fellow citizens.

  The Probus Club meets regularly for Fellowship and Development of the interests of the individuals.

  PROBUS is an acronym for the two words PROfessional & BUSiness. It is also a Latin Word for honest and virtuous, from which the English word 'probity' is derived. It is acclaimed that Probus originated in the UK, but the First Probus Club was formed in New Zealand in 1974 and in Australia in 1976.

   Probus Club has filled a need for today's active retirees, and it is now a world-wide movement, with phenomenal growth

The Vision of the PROBUS CLUB OF HYDERABAD

"Is to try and ensure that the Elders in Society at large get quality services which promote Elder Empowerment, maintain Self-Sufficiency and ensure the maintenance and preservation of cultural values and traditions of the Elders?"

"People who do not listen to their elders will repeat its history." "When an elder dies a library is burnt."

Native Americans hold great respect for the life experiences and wisdom of the tribal elders. It is this same spirit of lesson sharing that the Probus Club of Hyderabad wishes to impart to the needy and under privileged.
