Publishing club newsletters on individual web pages of
clubs has become a convenient method for some clubs to distribute their
newsletters to members rather than using regular mail. It is also
a method of sharing their club activities with other clubs. Some
clubs are able to locate interesting speakers by reading the newsletter
of other clubs or recruit members of neighbouring clubs when an event is
planned and there is an insufficient number of participants to fulfill
their obligations. These are a few examples, but the advantages
are innumerable.
HOW TO
SEND A NEWSLETTER FOR PUBLICATION ON THE INTERNET
-
FORMAT -
Type the letter on your computer using Microsoft Word, or Word Perfect
(If you have Adobe Acrobat you can then format the letter as a pdf
file. This is not a necessity, because all letters that arrive
in MS Word or WP format, are then formatted by the publishers as a pdf.
file before they are placed on the web site).
-
SAVE THE FILE
on your computer.
-
SEND THE FILE as
an email attachment to probus@probus.org
The letter will then arrive at the desk of the publishers who will
place it on the internet.
A link will be created from the NEWSLETTER button on
the club web page. Because the newsletter on the web page is a
pdf file, you require ADOBE READER on your computer. Most
computers already have Adobe Reader, but if you cannot open the
newsletter, you can download it free by Clicking
Here
.
-
To send an email attachment in OUTLOOK EXPRESS
- Begin your email message then click CREATE. In
the top menu click INSERT. In the Drop Down file click FILE
ATTACHMENT. Locate the MS Word or Word Perfect file you have
saved on your computer then click INSERT. You can then
send the file.
We realize these directions are basic knowledge for most
computer owners, but we receive numerous inquiries from members requesting
instructions. They are intended to assist those who have experienced
difficulty in sending their newsletters.
