NORTH BLACKBURN & DISTRICT PROBUS CLUB

BLACKBURN is a town of approximately 140,000 people set in the Lancashire Hill country where the PENDLE WITCHES were tried and burned in early ages, and the area was at the heart of the Industrial Revolution...being at one time the largest cotton weaving centre in the world.

Blackburn has a Premier League football (soccer) team, and won the championship in 1995. There are four GOLF COURSES in the town of which one, Pleasington, has been used as a qualifying course for the British Open.

The nearest seaside is BLACKPOOL which is the fun seaside resort of the country, has its famous Tower, Pleasure Beach, and the world famous ILLUMINATIONS which is a must-see. Blackpool is also close to the remarkably beautiful LAKE DISTRICT, where one can recall the poetry inspired by its beauty. Wordsworth and family are buried within the Lake District.
