Bernard Nadeau

WEBMASTER - CANADA

Bernard Nadeau of the Wasaga Beach Probus Club, Assistant Secretary (Communications) for Probus Club Service and Promotion, is the PUBLISHER (WEBMASTER) for the Canada WEB PAGES www.probus.org.

Born in Blind River, Ontario, Bernard grew up in Timmins, Ontario, with one brother and two sisters. In 1951 he went to Toronto and joined the Toronto Police Force.

He married his wife, Gloria in 1952 and they had four children. They now have nine grandchildren.

His career progressed through the ranks and eventually he attained the rank of Staff Superintendent in charge of policing in the City Of Etobicoke. Retiring in 1992 after 41 years service, he and Gloria moved to a new subdivision in Wasaga Beach.

He is a Charter member and Past President of the Probus Club of Wasaga Beach.

Appointed as Assistant Secretary (Communications) in January, 1998, Bernard has made several major contributions to the web service to Probus and Rotary. The web site is now easily found on search engines by seeking "probus".   


 ASSISTANT WEBMASTER - CANADA

Brian Kirkwood of the Probus Club of Wasaga Beach, serves as CO-PUBLISHER  (ASSISTANT WEBMASTER) to Bernard Nadeau for the Canada WEB PAGES. www.probus.org.

Brian was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1942 and served an apprenticeship in Naval Architecture in the Ship Design Offices of Harland & Wolff's Shipyard in Belfast. He moved to Canada in 1964 and worked for 12 years on the ship design staff at the Collingwood Shipyards in Collingwood , Ontario .  He met and married his wife Florence in Collingwood in 1968.  Brian joined the Canadian government service as a Naval Architect and Ship Surveyor in Marystown, Newfoundland and managed the Transport Canada Ship Inspection Office in Marystown for 4 years before transferring to the New Ship Construction Branch of the Department of Public Works in 1980 where he worked as a Naval Architect and Senior Ship Construction Overseer on a wide variety of Federal Government new ship construction projects until his retirement in 1999. 

On retirement, Brian and Florence relocated from Ottawa to Wasaga Beach , Ontario in December 1999.

Brian presently serves as Secretary to the Probus Club of Wasaga Beach and is also an active member of the Social Committee in that Club.

Arch Roberts
Arch Roberts

Arch Roberts of the Heidelberg Mens Probus Club in Melbourne, Victoria was born in Narrandera in New South Wales, Australia in 1941. He was educated in Sydney and graduated from the University of Sydney with a Master of Engineering Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was subsequently employed in the Department of Defence for 35 years as an Armaments Engineer. His career took him to many places overseas.

He has lived and worked in the US for two years, has been to the UK quite a few times, and also made brief working visits to Belgium, Canada, the USA, Singapore, and Wales. Apart from these he has had some spare time to drive around Scotland, and the east coast of North America including Quebec, Montreal (Expo '67!) and back south via Ontario to Buffalo and Philadelphia. He has also made a private visit to Indonesia a long time ago , and just recently to New Zealand.

Towards the end of his term, he took the opportunity to indulge in some more post graduate studies and obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Ergonomics.

He has two children.  His daughter is a pharmacist and his son has recently graduated from Melbourne University with a music degree.

Arch is now retired completely. He has been the Secretary and Newsletter editor of the Heidelberg Mens Probus Club in Melbourne, Victoria for nearly three years. The Club has been going since May 1983 and has 118 members. 

He is also an assistant editor of the state Mercedes Benz Club magazine. He owns two of these cars, a 1975 coupe and a 1981 convertible.

His many interests include computing, music of all kinds, "old" cars, and much more.

Since assuming the responsibility as publisher of all International pages of the Probus website early in 2000, Arch has modified the design of most International pages and under his guidance, the International pages have grown and continue to grow.
